Sypmtoms to take adderall?

Okay, my friends gave me adder all,

she said it would make me all hyper....

Well actually it didn't...It made me actually pay attention, because for some reason it is very hard for me to even pay attetion in class or w.e.

and I actually TALKED! to people!!

I hardly ever talk to people, im too shy, coz I have Social Anxiety Disorder.

So what symptoms should I take note of for whatever adder all treats?

Because if I have those symptoms, I'll even ask my mom to take me to the docotor

Sypmtoms to take adderall?
What your friend gave you was a controlled drug. You should only take it with as a medical prescription. My son took aderall. It is very similar to ritalin and he took it to treat his ADHD. This explains why aderall helped you. My guess is that you have a combination of social anxiety disorder and attention deficit hyperactive disorder.Interesting that this one medication can treat both disorders. You should discuss this with your mom although you should be in big trouble for taking something not prescribed to you.

Other symptoms of ADHD: do you or have you ever been disruptive in class? Stimulants such as aderall, ritalin or even caffeine has an oposite affect on kids. Instead of stimulating you to become more hyper, it stimulates you to become more focused. Another symptom, do you find stuff on the classroom walls as confusing or overwhelming. Do you lose control in places that have lots of people like a restaurant, church, recitals, etc? My son drove us insane in concerts, restaurants, church etc. He couldn't sit still.

I hope that all made sense and was helpful. My observations tell me that adderall is probably just what the doctor has ordered.I think that is what you need or something like that. At the same time, never ever take any drug that has not been prescribed to you!!!

Peace
Reply:Adderall treats ADHD. It helps everyone pay attention better, and only makes you hyper if you take too much. How much is "too much" is different for everyone, so the amount that your friend gave you may have been a recreational dose for him but a therapeutic dose for you.

You shouldn't ever take prescription medications that are prescribed to someone else. While it may turn out that it was a good thing this time (if you've had undiagnosed ADHD all this time and it helps you figure it out), it can be very dangerous, and is also illegal.

You should see your doctor about possible ADHD. There are several other stimulants similar to Adderall, and also a non-stimulant medication called Strattera, so if you do have ADHD, it won't necessarily be treated with Adderall specifically. Ritalin is similar to Adderall but has slightly milder side effects, so if you do end up taking stimulants, I'd recommend trying Ritalin first and only trying Adderall if Ritalin doesn't work out. Your doctor might recommend Strattera because it has low potential for abuse, but also because stimulants can increase anxiety symptoms. But personally I find that Concerta (a time-released version of Ritalin) actually makes it easier for me to talk to people (I've never been diagnosed with it, but I'm pretty sure I have social anxiety), so I'm not sure how true this is.

You can't get in trouble for anything you tell your docotor. While it was wrong for you to take the Adderall, your doctor isn't allowed to tell on you. You're protected by doctor-patient priviledge precisely so that you can tell you doctor about things that are medically relevent but could otherwise get you in trouble. Assuming you're still a minor, your doctor can tell your parents certain things about your medical treatment, but he wouldn't tell them about the Adderall if you ask him not to since it was just once (but since your mom already knows I assume that's not an issue anyway), and he's not legally allowed to tell anyone else.

However, since Adderall is often abused, if you tell your doctor about trying it, he might be reluctant to prescribe a stimulant medication. If you do talk to him about it, I'd suggest you wait until after he's determined that you have ADHD so he doesn't think you're faking ADHD symptoms to get the drugs, and try to make very clear that you want something that will treat the ADHD symptoms, whether or not it's something that people can get high off of if they want to. Talk to him about trying Strattera, partly because it's worth a try, but also because it will make your doctor more confident that you're not just looking to get high, since you're willing to try something that's not a stimulant. Also, talk to him about long-acting stimulants (Adderall XR for Adderall, or Concerta for Ritalin) as these are considered to have less abuse potential, and it looks more like you really do want to be on it all the time, rather than having it around to take when you want to get high or stay up late or whatever. And they also have the advantage that you only have to take one pill a day, instead of two or three :)

If you go to your doctor and he says you don't have ADHD, you could consider telling him that your friend gave you Adderall and it helped with the social anxiety. You have to be really careful about how you present that though, since it could easily end up sounding like you're just looking for drugs. You'd want to make really clear that you know it was wrong to take it, and be really specific about why you liked it. Have you ever been given medication for the anxiety? If not, there are other possible treatments that you'd want to try first, and you talk to your doctor about other treatments (many antidepressants are good for this). But if you've tried various antidepressants without success, and Adderall helped, then some doctors might consider prescribing it off-label for that purpose.
Reply:Don't take anymore, and tell your friend to stop passing them out. He/she is breaking the law that could end both of you in jail; moreover, FEDERAL PRISON! Adderall is a controlled substance! An amphetamine!!!!

You didn't state your age; it sounds as if you're a teen. Get your mom to take you to the doctor and have you evaluated for ADD/ADHD. What you are doing now isn't worth going to prison for, or possibly winding up dead. Be smart!
